We all learnt about the strategic Cyprus geographic position and why it is the only divided country in Europe after the Turkish invasion. The student had fun exploring the old town of Nicosia through a treasure hunt. We also discovered Cyprus cultural richness visiting beautiful places such as Larnaka, Lefkara, Kyperounta, the old village of Kakopetria or Limassol. We carried out learning activities in the Choirokitia old neolithic settlement, an Unesco World Heritage centre, and in the old theatre in Kourio where the students answered questions about the competition. Folkloric and musical performances involved all the delegations and created an atmosphere of synergy and cultural exchange.
We not only discover wonderful churches and castles, we also enjoyed the rich culinary offer in a traditional workshop of Cypriot delights in Agros Village, a winery in Kalo Chorio and tasting the delicious food at any of the local restaurants where we ate. Our last meeting was a great final party where the international delegation shared folk dances, food, photos and laughs.
Our students lived an unforgettable experience. They were welcomed by the families and felt the wonderful attitude for reception and integration of Cypriot people.
All this helped to make Cyprus an indelible memory. Thank you very much for this amazing experience.
